Gemüsings—Vegan Musings

Musings on food, friends, furries and family

Vegan Boston/Beyond

Planning a trip to good old Beantown but not sure where to find the beans, not the beef? I can help!

I grew up in somewhat rural New Hampshire in a small town and although I loved the country, it wasn’t where I wanted to be. Frequent trips to Boston as a kid fascinated me. I loved the city even back then. I moved to the Boston area for college in 1990 to study advertising and design at Endicott College. In 1992 I transferred to school right in the heart of Boston, Simmons College, and lived in Boston for two years after graduation. In 1997, with a short stop in Somerville, I moved to Cambridge (aka “the People’s Republic” or Boston’s “Left Bank”) and realized that I had found my home! I walk as much as I can in this city and I find it’s a great way to discover things. Boston/Cambridge and surrounding towns have a bevy of restaurants that offer decent vegan options yet even so I’d prefer to go to an all vegan restaurant. We admittedly have had a shortage of these but the list is growing.  Here is a list of restaurants in the metro Boston area and beyond that I’ve given a try and reviewed. If you are visiting Boston and want to some “insider” tips to the city, drop me an email at amandatrombley AT gmail.com and I’ll be happy to share! (Note the unlinked reviews will be added shortly as I finish transferring my blog over from Blogger to WordPress!). My sisters (by birth and non-formally adopted–you know who you are!) live in San Diego, NYC and Portland (Maine) and you may see some reviews of restaurants there in the near future.
